In what continues to be a fantastic year for the clients of haleys, City Build Manchester have scooped an award for their work at one of the region’s top colleges.
The chartered building company won Wigan Council’s Best Educational Building Award for their work carried out in a much-needed revamp of one of the blocks at Winstanley College, just a short drive south from Wigan town centre.
Youngsters studying for their A-Levels at the college now have a brand new building in time for the new academic year in September which has already played host to Maths and PE classes since it was officially opened in a ceremony in January.
The project was part of an ongoing refurbishment programme of various college buildings, with the aim of providing high quality learning facilities and a positive environment. To make this possible with Winstanley, recladding of the old, traditional building took place to create a more interesting and welcoming series of classrooms through a modern dynamic and vast exposure to more natural light than ever before.
It wasn’t all plain sailing for City Build, however, when the project suffered a brief setback after an old mining works was discovered underneath the construction site. Fortunately, a quick and efficient redesign of the groundwork overcame the problem and the building was complete way ahead of schedule.
The success of City Build follows on from the great news last month that the production company run by another haleys client, Nicola Shindler, won a TV BAFTA award, and event management company Cuffe & Taylor, who haleys have worked with for a number of months, were one of the winners at the Lancashire Red Rose Awards in March.
