Barron Wood Named One Of The County’s Top SMEs

28 August 2015

Barron Wood DL

Being identified as one of the top businesses in your industry is great, but it’s even better if this translates across to being one of the top businesses in your county as well, and that is exactly the recognition gained by haleys’ client Barron Wood Distribution.

The transport company have once again found themselves creeping ever closer to the very top positions of Lancashire Business View’s 100 most profitable SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises) in the county with a first ever appearance in the top 10.

It marks fantastic progress for Barron Wood Distribution who first made the list in 2013, placing 16th overall, sixth within the new entries that year, and second to Cyclesport North for those SMEs in Preston.

A year later, Barron Wood climbed a place higher to 15, and, now in 10th place, 2015 marks their highest ever positioning in the Lancashire Business View’s annual list, and still holding onto second for SMEs based in Preston.

It’s not the first time the distributors have been widely recognised either; earlier this year they were also named as one of the London Stock Exchange’s 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain, with consistent revenue growth over a minimum of three years and significantly outperforming competitors within the industry just a couple of the prerequisites for inclusion.

Similarities can therefore be made in terms of selection for Lancashire Business View’s top 100 list with a performance assessment of each individual business, but of course a lot more of the research is focused on county involvement and their contribution to the Lancashire economy.

For a full list of all 100 SMEs to make this year’s list, see issue 63 of Lancashire Business View which can be found on

Alternatively you’ll be able to download a PDF version of the list from the Barron Wood Distribution website as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, visit for more information about the company.
