Several members of the Haleys team attended an event at Preston Grasshoppers ground at Lightfoot Green to officially launch their new artificial grass pitch. Funded by the RFU the new 365 pitch is one of the first to be rolled out as part of a £47 million investment programme over the next four years.
England Rugby Coach, Eddie Jones, gave a short speech where he described Hoppers as a grand old club with a great history. He also highlighted the role of the club in bringing through individuals such as rising star Mike Haley and highly respected England forwards coach Steve Borthwick. Mike was part of the Haleys Business Advisers team prior to concentrating on his professional rugby career. He now plays for Sale Sharks and was part of the England squad in the 2016 Autumn Internationals.
‘It’s been great to see the whole community come out in force to celebrate the launch and I hope to see clubs, schools and organisations all using and benefiting from this great facility,’ said Jones.
Local junior players enjoyed a run out on the new surface with the England Coach giving them a few pointers along the way.
The new pitch will enable additional training sessions and more flexibility in playing times. A special promotion for January and February means it can be booked for just £1 per hour.
Haleys Business Advisers is the main shirt sponsor for Preston Grasshoppers RFC.
