Preston Grasshoppers RFC’s first XV had a great result at the weekend beating third place Leicester Lions 21 – 5. It was a big confidence boost for the team who’ve had a tough season so far.
Head Coach, Garth Drew, said, ‘With a positive attitude and a no pressure approach, I believe we still have some big wins in us this season and it’s still all to play for. The team has been blighted by disruptions, from losing six players in the off season and thirteen more in season, as well as injuries to key players.’
With less than eight weeks of the season left the Leicester Lions win comes at a good time.
Haleys’ relationship with the Hoppers stretches back many years thanks to the involvement of Managing Director Tim Haley who enjoyed a long and successful playing career at Lightfoot Green.
‘We’re keen supporters of Hoppers and all that they do in the community,’ said Michael Lucas, Director of Haleys. ‘Several members of our team recently attended the official launch of the new artificial grass pitch that was presided over by England Rugby Coach, Eddie Jones. The Leicester Lions match was originally due to be played in November last year but the weather left the pitch unplayable. Of course that’s no longer a problem with the new 365 pitch. Everyone here wishes the team the best of luck for the rest of the season'.Go Back
